I call it the John Lennon Syndrome!
I could actually win The Singing Bee but will definitely fail the “Name your Colleagues” quiz!
Anybody out there who shares the same symptoms? 😉 Maybe there are others out there too??
I am not really the “disco and party” person but I do love some great dance music! (Most of which make me dance crazily within the comfort of my own room or in the toilet because I unfortunately had not been gifted with the gift of dance..too bad to me but good for others as they won’t have to suffer watching me! hahaha)
But I’ve recently discovered some great remix tunes from DJ Elon Matana that are too good not to dance around to..(I’m dancing around in my seat as I listen to them…ok just swaying my head because am still in the office after all! hehe)
Don’t blame me if you erupt from your seat while listening to these tunes or walk to the restroom with that “spunk” in your walk and that “smug” look on your face …because that’s not hard to do if you have these tunes roaring in your headsets!
Since we’re in the topic of dance songs, I have to include an artist that I think definitely nailed it as well. All his songs really make me want to dance, for some reason!
I know you want me
Give me everything (Tonight)
Hotel room service
Don’t stop the party
Now, that we got that out of the way…let’s get some serious work done, shall we? 😉
Ok, so I’ve been a little busy lately..trying to realize one of my lifelong dreams to be a best-selling author even if that’s really a long-shot but who knows, right?
Anyway, I’ve been writing stories over at Widbook.com, an online platform for people to write stories and share them! Definitely great for amateur writers (like moi) and even for those already with traction and a great venue to meet like-minded people as well.
So far I’m loving it! (Actually, I am getting just a wee bit addicted! hehe)
I have been writing a few stories and the last one I wrote was an experimental one on the genre of romance and sensual writing. (Yep, sensual, not the one with the “x” on it!)
Since it was a whole different ballgame for me, I needed some mood music to help me weave the story from my head into words and these were the songs that helped me achieve it.
As always, with everything I do, I definitely need some good music to accompany me and inspire me!
Just sharing in case, they too, inspire you to write “sensually”! 😉
[You may read the story here: A Night of Passion, Intoxication & Bliss]
Let’s start if off with Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On.. 😉
My girl by The Temptations
You are the sunshine of my life by Stevie Wonder
You’ll never find another love by Lou Rawls
Yet again another example of how powerful music is and how it can move and inspire people to do things ~
Another reason to thank the Music Gods for the gift of music in our lives!
Don’t you just love music!!!
You know it’s officially summer when:
1. Your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/etc page is flooded with people on beaches and in swimsuits but you’re in the office slaving over work wishing you were at the beach too! (ouch)
2. You just can’t get away with only showering once for an entire day!
3. Clothing preference becomes shorter, skimpier and thinner but with more colors!
4. Your electricity bill skyrockets so high that your head is on fire because you have to pay it! 😉
Not all of us can enjoy summer as carefree as students can because we either have work or don’t earn enough to actually splurge on these summer escapades so in lieu of such, here are great songs to give you the summer vibe!
So lounge back on your chair, put up our feet (well, maybe except if you’re in the office) and help yourself to a tall glass of pina colada (or good old cold H2O if you’re in the office) because we’re going beaching right now!! 😉
Stay hot my hotties but don’t burn! 😉 (My summer version of “stay cool but don’t freeze!” hehe)
The United Nations is apparently compiling a list of songs that make people happy….
As part of my contribution to their project, I am reblogging this with hashtag #HappySoundsLike. Hope my bets make it to the list! 🙂
I apologize, I have not updated this blog in a while but that doesn’t mean I have not listened to any music (as I always do and it is an addiction I do not want and cannot ever withdraw from) nor have I stopped singing or learning any songs.
There is one song that is really keeping me inspired right now that listening to it makes me want to dance. (want to dance if in public but really dance when I’m with my son who seems to like it as much as I do…)
Anyway, without further ado.. here is the Happy song by Pharrell Williams.
If you had seen the movie Despicable Me 2, you would also hear this music when Gru realized he had feelings for his partner and was dancing along the way to meeting her.
Also, here is another song that makes you happy…

Whether you call it unfortunate or fortunate, I was born during the pre-internet era…where information came from word-of-mouth, books, encyclopedia, the radio and the television. Those were also the times when you could watch music videos only on TV and most of them were extended and seemed like mini-movies rather than just short music videos featuring the face of the singer plastered all over the whole tv screen. (no offense meant..hehe..)
I had a lot of favorites, mostly from Beatles and a lot of other 80’s artists. The best mini-movie type ones are from Michael Jackson. Definitely no question about how great the music was but watching the videos themselves was exciting and fun! He also apparently really goes “all out” on his videos and spends lavishly so obviously that would translate to what the audience is seeing as well.
In remembrance of the late but still great MJ, today’s Fiery Friday post is dedicated to him and his well-loved music and videos. (oh… and signature dance moves too!)
Enjoy!! I know I will. (And I am!)
