I am not usually a fan of remakes (as I feel most original artists especially the not so young ones already gave great renditions..) but there are some remakes that are really wonderfully-made and worth the attention. This song is definitely one of those. This was sung by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.
This song has also been used in two of the movies I’ve seen (Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates and a love story called Returning Lily) and ever since I heard it, I’ve always loved it and still do.
Sharing this here to inspire people to never give up and always look up and marvel at the rainbows in our lives…
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?
